Death of Ali ibn Husayn (Zayn al-Abidin), Muharram 12. Ali ibn Husayn, also known Zayn al-Abidin, was the fourth leader in Twelver Shia tradition and died on this date. He was the son of Husayn ibn Ali and survived the events of Karbala. His death is recorded occurring in 95 Hijri. Zayn al-Abidin played a significant role in preserving accounts of the events at Karbala. His burial place is in the Baqi cemetery in Medina. This date is observed in the Hijri calendar the anniversary of his death.
