World Health Day (April 7) was first observed as an international event on April 7, 1950. The day was officially designated in the Gregorian calendar by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1950 to draw global attention to important public health issues. In its inaugural year, member countries of the WHO organized meetings and educational programs to highlight the significance of health and hygiene at both national and international levels. In subsequent years, World Health Day became an opportunity to focus on specific health challenges each year. A special theme is selected annually to raise public awareness about health issues and encourage policymakers and health professionals to take action. The day is marked in many countries by conferences, educational workshops, awareness campaigns, and community activities. The significance of World Health Day lies in promoting public health and disease prevention, especially in developing countries. As a global event, it provides an opportunity for international cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the field of health. In Iran and other countries, various programs are held to increase public awareness about the importance of health and its role in sustainable development.
