1990 Manjil–Rudbar earthquake, Khordad 31. On this date in 1990, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck the Rudbar, Manjil, and Loshan areas in Gilan province. The event is considered one of the deadliest earthquakes in Iran’s history, resulting in the deaths of over 35,000 people. Thousands more were injured, and widespread destruction affected homes and infrastructure across the region.
